Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be quite difficult to look forward to the holiday season, but who says you need to leave the house to have a festive day? Read ahead to find the best ways to celebrate at home. From baking, decorating, watching movies to hosting virtual parties, it’s all up to you to decide.
Baking cookies not only brings the sweetness of the holiday season to life, but is an amazing dessert to add to the festive menu. To increase the holiday spirit, keep fun cookie cutters, frostings and decorations by your side. Even if baking isn’t one’s specialty, getting crafty with ready-made gingerbread houses will not only add a fun touch to the dessert menu but can also provide your home with festive decorations.
Besides decorating baked goods, decorating your home will put you right in the festive feels because nothing will speak quarantine Christmas than a winter wonderland right in your own house this year. Pick up a few decorations, along with channeling your inner artist by creating DIY ornaments and much more.
Holidays are meant to be spent with family, but the next best thing is a virtual party. Just because you can’t get together in person this year, doesn’t mean you can’t see them on the holidays. Many people may have to spend the holidays alone this year, which is why setting up a virtual call with your loved ones on Christmas morning with PJ’s, gifts and games, can make this winter break just as cozy as others. For an easy-going virtual party with family and friends, check out platforms such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, Whatsapp video call or Facetime. If the situations permit, checking out locally hosted holiday events can be just the cherry on top in making the most of these rather unpleasant times.
Be on the lookout for local holiday happenings, such as drive-thru light festivals or socially distant events at holiday markets. Driving by lights around the community will be a great hit especially when being in cars is the safest. Little things like watching a movie with a fuzzy blanket and warm socks while drinking a toasty hot chocolate sounds like the perfect way to relax during the holiday break. Throughout the hopefully snowy season, finding the time to safely step out for winter activities like tobogganing, tubing, and skating along with many more can definitely add excitement to these unprecedented times.
This holiday season will be a tough one to enjoy, but hopefully these activities pose as an inspiration to stay home and stay safe while making the most of your time!
